alcoholic inks!

Got caramel and pearl alcohol inks...

Ranger/Tim Holtz demos Adirondack Alcohol Inks
Tim Holtz alcohol ink demo 2

Wanna try the Adirondack inks apparently they're oil based which don't bleed when stamping in a background that has alcoholic inks [solvent] the StazOn or memories, those suckers will react with each other and start to spread! we don't want that so Tim suggests to use their inks which are oil based... I wonder if adding a oil paints to a ink pad would work? hmmm... something to ponder!

StazOn is great but stained my lovely new acrylic stamps! Spend a few minutes cleaning it w/ warm h20 n soap, alcohol and ink cleaner... got most of it out but not all... aarrrggghhh.... but one thing, that stuff is great when you watercolor, it doesn't smear! Sweet!

another thing I learned was that I don't have to buy H2O Twilights. I can make my own. with Mica powders/Ex-powders and Arabic/acacia gum...

materials:
gum Arabic [Jacquard] also known as Meska or gum tragacanth, Gum Acacia [Fr. gomme adragante], brand Gum- Tex
a little info on it... its used in soft drink syrups [fizzing], marshmallows, gum drops, m&m's, and chewing gum, overall the food industry as a stabilizer... also in pharmaceuticals, make-up, watercolor paints, likable adhesive on stamps, cigarette papers, printers use it to stop oxidation of aluminum products particularly the plates, can bind pigments on paper, water soluble binder in fireworks, and its an important ingredient in shoe polish.

Check West Indian stores, Micheal's, Bulk Barns, ebay, Winsor & Newton Gum Arabic, Jacquard and as well as any cake decorating stores. Even sometimes find it at Herbal stores, since these gums are used as binding agents for other foods.
A great place online to buy from is called Golda's Kitchen (based in ON).
